The Working Principle of Injection Stretch Blow Molding Machine
The Injection Stretch Blow Molding Machine (ISBM) is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment in the plastic manufacturing industry. Its operation is based on a sequential process that combines injection molding, stretching, and blow molding techniques to produce high - quality plastic containers.
At the beginning of the process, plastic resin pellets are fed into the machine's hopper. These pellets are then conveyed into the barrel of the injection unit. Inside the barrel, the plastic is heated to its melting point through a combination of electrical heating elements and mechanical shear forces. Once in a molten state, the plastic is injected under high pressure into a preform mold. The preform mold is designed to create a hollow, tube - like shape with a neck and a closed bottom, which serves as the starting point for the final container.
After the preform is formed, it is transferred to the heating station. Here, the preform is carefully heated to a specific temperature range. This heating process is crucial as it makes the plastic more malleable and ready for the stretching and blowing stages. The heating station often uses infrared heaters or mica heat rings to ensure even and precise heating of the preform.
Once the preform reaches the appropriate temperature, it is transferred to the blow mold. At this stage, a stretching rod is inserted into the preform through the neck. As the stretching rod moves downward, it stretches the preform longitudinally. Simultaneously, high - pressure air is introduced into the preform through the neck. The combination of the stretching action and the air pressure causes the preform to expand and take the shape of the blow mold. This results in a thin - walled, fully formed plastic container with excellent dimensional accuracy and wall thickness distribution.
Finally, the molded container is cooled within the blow mold to set its shape. Once cooled, the container is ejected from the mold, and the cycle repeats. The entire process is highly automated, allowing for high - volume production with consistent quality.
